ROCKVILLE BANK INVITES PUBLIC TO HELP SUPPORT LOCAL “EXTREME MAKEOVER HOME EDITION” EFFORT

ROCKVILLE, CONN., June 16, 2009 –In less than two weeks, TV’s popular Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will surprise a family in the Connecticut River Valley with a newly constructed and furnished house. Rockville Bank of Rockville, Conn. has joined this massive effort and invites the public to help change the lives of a deserving family by making a donation to the project.

Funds donated by the community will be used to help pay for materials having to do with the build and the family’s needs after they move into their new home.

Rockville Bank employees will roll up their sleeves and participate in the build. The bank also has contributed funds to the project and is donating marketing and public relations services to the cause. “We have participated in many wonderful community projects, “adds Mr. McGurk. “But this one promises to be the very largest.”

On Sunday, June 21, a lucky area family, yet to be identified, will be surprised by a visit from Ty Pennington, team leader for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. At that time, the family’s identity will be made public. The 106-hour home build will occur during the week of June 21. The show’s cast will “reveal” the new home on Sunday, June 28 when Pennington recites the show’s signature phrase, “move that bus!”

Kent Pecoy of Pecoy Signature Homes in West Springfield, Mass. and Avon, Conn. has been chosen to build the home in the span of just one week. Thousands of area subcontractors and vendors will be donating services and materials as part of the build.

Last Friday, June 12, hundreds of volunteers gathered at Bay Path College for a pep rally to welcome the television crew. It was followed by a “Hands Across the Border” event as hundreds of participants lined U.S. Route 5 in Enfield, Conn. and Longmeadow, Mass. with the midpoint right where the border meets. This human stream was there to focus on one thing: regardless of where we call home…we’re there to make a home for a deserving family!

The Emmy award winning reality program “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” now entering its 7th season, is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding.
