Rockville Bank Foundation Mission

The Rockville Bank Foundation was established in May 1998 to assist in improving the quality of life in “Rockville Bank” communities located in Connecticut. The Foundation supports a variety of charitable causes (religious, charitable, public safety, educational, health and other charitable organizations). Charitable contributions are intended to strengthen the relationship between Rockville Bank and the communities it services while furthering the Bank’s donations and strategic plans.

Rockville Bank employee volunteerism is an important part of the Foundation’s success. Employees realize the importance of giving back to the communities where they live and work. The combination of employee dedication and Foundation funding provides a significant impact to strengthen our communities.

As Rockville Bank has changed over the years, so has its Foundation. A name change in 2001, the formation of a second Foundation in 2005 and the merger of those two Foundations in 2007 increased available donation funding from $30,000 in 1998 to over $250,000 annually.

As part of the second step conversion of Rockville Financial Inc. (the holding company for Rockville Bank) in 2011, the Rockville Bank Foundation was the recipient of a $5 million cash contribution, thus doubling the Foundation’s grant-making ability.

Budgets are prepared annually and requests generally outpace funding ability. Our preference is to fund specific items rather than provide operating funds.
