McGurk, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rockville Bank. The presentation was made at the organization’s Law Day Ceremonies earlier this month at the Tolland Judicial District Superior Court in Rockville, Conn. McGurk lives in Somers, Conn.

In presenting the award, local Law Day event Co-Chair Steven Bidwell commended McGurk for an impressive commitment to civic life in Tolland County, whether it has been providing scholarships to local high school graduates, volunteering his time and expertise to multiple local boards and commissions, or establishing new home buyer seminars.

Law Day in the U.S. honors the country’s great heritage of liberty, justice and equality under the law. First proclaimed by President Eisenhower in 1958, and passed as a joint resolution by the U.S. Congress in 1961, Law Day is observed annually nationwide on May 1st. The theme for Law Day 2010 was "Law in the 21st Century: Enduring Traditions, Emerging Challenges."
