ROCKVILLE BANK’S PRESIDENT CALLS FOR COMMUNITY’S HELP
Local Businesses Stepping Forward with Funds
William (Bill) H. W. Crawford, IV, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rockville Financial, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Select Market "RCKB"), the parent of Rockville Bank, has called upon the community for its immediate help in financial donations to restock Hockanum Valley Community Council’s (HVCC) near empty Tri-Town Pantry, a food pantry that serves the Tolland County area.
“With so many Americans unemployed or underemployed, food pantries across the nation face the challenge of staying stocked with enough food to feed everyone who asks for help,” explained Bill Crawford, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rockville Bank. “We can all make a local impact to help our neighbors by stepping forward to support essential programs like Hockanum Valley Community Council’s Tri-Town Pantry.”
To respond to this urgent need for funding, the Rockville Bank Foundation last week provided $2,500 in seed money to help HVCC get started for a "pantry is near empty" campaign. Rockville Bank branches are accepting financial contributions made payable to HVCC until September 30. In addition, Rockville Bank Foundation has donated $5,000 to establish a challenge grant so that HVCC can potentially obtain $12,500 for fundraising purposes.
Within days of Rockville Bank Foundation’s initial donation, HVCC’s Chief Executive Officer David Engelson phoned Crawford to tell him that two other local companies had joined the cause. Prime Materials Recovery, Inc., headquartered in East Hartford, Conn., and CNC Software, Inc., headquartered in Tolland, Conn. each donated $5,000 to continue the challenge to our communities to fill HVCC’s Tri-Town Pantry.
“We are so grateful to Bernard and Nathan Schilberg of Prime Materials Recovery and Mark and Jamie Summers of CNC Software for responding so quickly to an urgent need to help Hockanum Valley Community Council’s Tri-Town Pantry,” stated Bill Crawford. “These are the kind of local businesspeople who know what being part of a community means, by putting the needs of others first. Let’s all continue to respond to this urgent need.”
“It’s because of businesses like Rockville Bank, Prime Materials Recovery, CNC Software, and the general public that HVCC’s Tri-Town Pantry is able to provide food to those in great need,” said David Engelson, Chief Executive Officer of HVCC. “With many families still without power after Hurricane Irene, the need is more urgent than ever and every dollar counts.”
