The Rockville Bank family sends our thoughts and prayers to our employees, friends, family, community and country on this 10th anniversary of September 11
Let us all join together, and continue to support our communities in memory of those who were lost.
To honor the memory of this anniversary, the Rockville Bank Foundation is making a $1,000 donation to the Navy Seal Foundation in honor of Seal Team 6. Seal Team 6 is the unit that was responsible for the death of Osama Bin Laden in May 2011. A helicopter crash in Afghanistan in August 2011 took the lives of over 20 members of this unit. Although those lost in the crash were not involved directly in the raid of bin Laden's compound, they were an integral part of the very close Seal Team 6 family. Seal Team 6 requested on their Facebook wall, just two days following the crash, that donations be directed to the Navy Seal Foundation. Subsequently, the Chairman of the Foundation posted the following message on their website:
"In good times or bad, the Navy SEAL Foundation has one mission: to provide immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families. Tragedy assistance is an integral part of our work, and just hours after learning of the Aug. 6 tragedy in Afghanistan, Foundation staff, board members and volunteers mobilized to face the sobering work ahead - helping the families of the 17 Navy SEALs and 5 Naval Special Warfare support personnel who died in service to their country."
The Navy Seal Foundation is a reputable and well established 501 c 3 non profit organization. Click the links below to learn more from Seal Team 6's Facebook Page, or about the Navy Seal Foundation.
